30 de July de 2024Every October 9, the church at the Monastery of Sant Daniel is decorated to celebrate the day of its consecration, which was 9 October 1086. We know this date from the monastery’s liturgical calendar, and the year 1086 appears in some documents that Joan Gaspar Roig i Jalpí (1624-1691) is said to have discovered.
Laurel wreaths with candles are put in the places intended for this purpose to adorn and light up the walls of the church nave every year. And the aromatic herbs collected in the monastery orchard and garden fill the church with their scent. The decorations, which are prepared for First Vespers, are not removed until after Vespers on the 9th and they leave the church perfumed for several days.
